lostmoon.gif (3131 bytes)Lovell retired from the astronaut program in 1971. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1971. He was appointed deputy director of the Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas in 1971. In 1973 He retired from the Navy with the rank of captain and entered the business world. Jim was inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame on March 19, 1993. Lovell and co-author Jeffrey Kluger wrote about the Apollo 13 mission in the book Lost Moon. The book was published in 1994. A movie was made after the book called Apollo 13. The director was Ron Howard, and it stared Tom Hanks as Lovell.
